Hi, I’m Lizzy Johnston.
I’m an Art Director and Photo Editor with 10+ years of experience leading brand photography, creative production, and photo research. At Mailchimp, I built the in-house photo team, developed brand photography guidelines, and partnered across marketing, product, and editorial channels. My expertise spans photo research and licensing, vendor and agency relationships, and the production systems that keep creative work moving: from budgeting and playbooks to digital asset management.

I bring a calm, collaborative approach to every project and thrive in creative environments where I can partner with brands rooted in community, creativity, and the outdoors.

Photography has been the longest love affair of my life. My curiosity for it began at age eight, with a tiny yellow Kodak camera and lots of rolls of film my mom wasn’t thrilled to develop. What began as fascination has become a career grounded in observation, experimentation, and a love of noticing the details others might miss. It’s this inquisitive nature that fuels both my photography and my photo research work, from curating imagery to building systems that help creative teams tell stronger visual stories.
